BONNYVILLE - A man known to Bonnyville RCMP was arrested at his residence after fleeing from police on July 11.

An off-duty RCMP officer noticed the man - who was reportedly bound by conditions not to operate a motor vehicle - driving a vehicle from a business in Bonnyville.

"The vehicle was located by members who confirmed the driver and attempted a traffic stop, from which the suspect fled at a high rate of speed, failing to stop at the first stop sign he crossed," according to information from RCMP.

Police did not follow the vehicle, but arrested the man at his residence, where public safety was no longer an issue.

“We want the community to know that we are committed to holding accountable all criminals, especially those who would do continuous harm to our homes,” said Sgt. Doug MacFarland of the Bonnyville RCMP.

As a result of the investigation, Dean Peter Gamache, 35, a resident of Bonnyville, was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and failure to comply with a release order, according to RCMP.

"Gamache was brought before a justice of the peace and though originally remanded he has since been released. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville on Aug. 5," according to police.
