The truck of a man found dead in his Bonnyville home on Sunday, Oct. 16, has been located on Kehewin Cree Nation.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Bonnyville RCMP and the Major Crimes Unit confirmed that they had found the 1974 Dodge D200 pickup truck on Kehewin. They had been looking for the truck as part of their investigation after an elderly Bonnyville man was found dead at his home on 51 Ave. (behind Midtown Motor Inn and Happy Valley).

An autopsy conducted Oct. 18 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton determined the death was a homicide.

Officers were first dispatched to the residence at 1:27 p.m. on Oct. 16 after being notified of a suspicious death by EMS.

The scene was secured and the Major Crimes Unit from Edmonton was contacted and assumed lead of the investigation. The home is being processed by investigators, along with members of the RCMP's Forensic Identification Section (FIS) as they gather evidence to determine the circumstances which led to the man's death.

When RCMP arrived, the truck was missing from the residence.

According to a press release from RCMP 'K' Division in Edmonton, they have tentatively identified the man, but confirmation of his identify is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.

The truck is described as a 1974 Dodge D200 pickup truck. It's light green with a large white and green canopy on the back. It has Alberta license plate BES-165.
