A repeat offender pleaded guilty to the role he played in a high-speed chase.

Travis J. Gordon adjourned his sentencing for the completion of a pre-sentence report after he pleaded guilty to flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

Crown prosecutor Alex Lyn described the July 15 circumstances that brought Gordon before the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Bonnyville General Investigation Section (GIS) were conducting surveillance when they witnessed two stopped vehicles trafficking drugs.

Uniformed RCMP officers attended and confirmed Gordon as the driver of one of the vehicles, which had a license plate that didn't match the car.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, which was described by witnesses as driving on the opposite side of the road, swerving into oncoming traffic, and causing drivers to go into the ditch to avoid a collision.

RCMP initiated a pursuit after the vehicle failed to stop, and at times, Lyn described, the speed reached 170-kilometres per hour. The pursuit lasted roughly five to six-kilometres.

The car was later spotted abandoned in the MD of Bonnyville.

The female passenger was found walking away from the car, while Gordon was located using Police Dog Services (PDS).

At the time of Gordon's arrest, he was prohibited from driving.

He adjourned his matters for the completion of a pre-sentence report, and will return to the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse Oct. 15 for sentencing.

In the meantime, Gordon will remain at the Edmonton Remand Centre.
