Snowmobile drag races come to Ardmore

Snowmobile racers went to head-to-head in Ardmore in the Straightline Snowmobile Racing Associate (SSRA) drag races on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Bonnyville-native Isaak Williams came in second in the mini 120 races, and in third place was Jacob Heffner of Franchere.

Local racer Cooper Regnier took second place in the mini 200.

The mini pro saw Layne Babb from Bonnyville secure second, followed closely behind by La Corey-native Ayden Tizzard.

In the junior category, Cold Lake racer Jackson Luger snagged the second place spot and Babb secured a third place finish. Luger also came in third in the stock 700.

Two Bonnyville racers were in the top four in the amateur stock 700 with Shawn Brundise in second and Chad Schultheis in third. Cold Lake driver Kyle Luger finished in fourth.

Amateur stock 800 had Mike Crocker in second and Jeff Tienhaara in third, both from Bonnyville. Crocker also placed first in the amateur stock 1000, while Teinhaara took third.

The only local driver to snag a top four finish in the classic super stock was Ashley Bochon, who came in third.

Cold Lake-native Troy Hasse finished second in improved 700, while the Bonnyville team 54 North Performance came in second for the improved 800.

The 54 North Performance team was also successful in the improved 1000 when they came in second, and Ryan Kolody from Bonnyville secured the fourth place spot in the category.

In open improved, 54 North Performance from Bonnyville kept their luck going when they drove away with third place and their Cold Lake team won first place in the deep snow super stock.

Bonnyville's Wayne Kolody saw success during the races when he came in third for mountain improved and mountain open.

To finish the day off, 54 North Performance from Bonnyville finished first in the final four categories: pro sno 1000, open mod 1000, top two stroke, and outlaw.
