KEHEWIN – Police arrested four people in connection to a stolen truck spotted pulling into a residential driveway in Kehewin Cree Nation on the morning of July 2. Of those arrested, a man and women remain in custody.
While a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was on patrol, they noted a pickup truck that had been reported as stolen pulling into a driveway at a residence in Kehewin at 9:45 a.m., according to information provided by RCMP.
As the officer pulled up behind the truck, a man that was standing at the driver’s side door of the stolen vehicle allegedly threw a loaded sawed-off shotgun into the yard after noting the presence of the RCMP member.
There were three other occupants in the stolen truck, according to RCMP.
All four people were arrested and are now facing several charges in relation to firearm possession, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with release conditions.
Those arrested include 32-year-old Owen Dion of Kehewin, 34-year-old Anna Crane of Saddle Lake, 33-year-old Robert Whiskeyjack of Saddle Lake, and 29-year-old Kyle Whitstone of Kehewin.
Both Dion and Crane remain in custody. Whiskeyjack and Whitstone were released on a no cash release order to appear in court on Aug. 1.
Dion has been charged with possession of a stolen truck over $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
The 32-year-old also faces several firearm related charges, including careless use of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm while knowing possession was unauthorized, possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, and tampering with a firearm serial number.
Dion was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody to appear in court on July 4. The case was then adjourned to July 18. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old remains in custody.
Crane is facing charges of possession of a stolen truck over $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
The 34-year-old was brought before a Justice of the Peace, and she was remanded into custody to appear in court on July 4. Her case was then adjourned to July 18, in the meanwhile Crane will remain in custody.
Whiskeyjack is charged with possession of a stolen truck over $5,000. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a no cash release order to appear in court on Aug. 1.
Whitstone is also facing charges of possession of a stolen truck over $5,000. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a no cash release order to appear in court on Aug. 1.
