Suspect arrested following report of robbery at Bonnyville convenience store

An arrest was made following an alleged robbery at a convenience story at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 16 in Bonnyville.

BONNYVILLE - An arrest was made following an alleged robbery at a convenience story at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 16 in Bonnyville.

Police say a man entered a local convenience store on 50th Avenue and "demanded the clerk hand over all the money and uttered a threat to kill the clerk if he didn’t comply." 

The suspect then allegedly fled on foot and was reported to have been "kicking a vehicle a few blocks away." 

Bonnyville RCMP entered into a robbery investigation and located the suspect. 

Calo Berland, 21, is being charged with robbery with the threat of violence, assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, mischief over $5,000 and mischief under $5,000. He was remanded into custody where he is expected to remain until his next court appearance on Sept. 2, according to RCMP.
