Three charged after car theft in Bonnyville

The Bonnyville General Investigation Unit, along with members from the Bonnyville detachment and Cold Lake Police Dog Services, completed a vehicle theft investigation that led to the arrest of two adults and one youth.

BONNYVILLE – Two adults and a youth were arrested following a vehicle theft investigation.

On Feb. 16, the Bonnyville General Investigation Unit (GIS), along with the assistance of the Bonnyville RCMP detachment members and Cold Lake Police Dog Services (PDS) Unit, successfully completed a vehicle theft investigation, which resulted in the arrest and charging of two adults and one youth.  

A 2007 F-350 was stolen from an apartment complex in the Town of Bonnyville, according to RCMP, and the subjects were found operating and occupying the vehicle.

They were arrested without incident east of Bonnyville on Hwy. 659. A loaded .22 calibre firearm was also located by police in relation to the arrests.   

A 16-year-old male from the Cold Lake area, who cannot be named, and at the time of his arrest was already out on judicial release for 59 other criminal code charges, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, careless use of a firearm, two counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order, six counts of failure to comply with a probation order, and possession of break-in instruments.  

He has been remanded into custody and is expected to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on March 2.  

Brandon Jacknife, 20, of Cold Lake, who at the time of his arrest was already on judicial release for several offences including armed robbery and assault with a weapon, is additionally charged with theft of a truck, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, four counts of failure to comply with a release order, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.  

Jacknife has been remanded into custody and is also expected to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on March 2.  

Brydon Moyah, 23, of the Fishing Lake/Frog Lake area, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.   

Moyah was released by a justice of the peace and will appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on March 16.
