The case of Deborah Doonanco was back in provincial court in Bonnyville last week, as Judge Williams set a preliminary hearing date for early next year.

The 51-year-old Doonanco, a retired school teacher, formerly with the Northern Lights School Division, faces charges of first-degree murder, arson and interfering with a dead body following an incident in Glendon earlier this summer.

The body of 44-year-old Kevin Feland, Doonanco's common-law husband, was discovered by members of the Glendon Fire Department after the local authority responded to a residential fire in Glendon on May 25.

The charges came as the result of an investigation from RCMP Major Crimes Unit and the Provincial Fire Investigator.

Doonanco first appeared in Bonnyville provincial court via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre on June 3, but was not present for her second hearing July 15.

Doonanco will next appear in court March 23 for a five-day preliminary hearing, ending March 27, in St. Paul.
