UPDATE: Deceased suffered major health event, resulting in 'slow speed collision' near Bonnyville

A single motor vehicle collision that took place on Friday afternoon near Bonnyville was likely caused by a "major health event" that claimed the life of a 59-year-old man from St. Paul, according to police.

BONNYVILLE - A "slow speed collision" that took place on Friday afternoon near Bonnyville was likely caused by a "major health event" that claimed the life of a 59-year-old man from St. Paul. 

On Jan. 5, Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Township Road 610 near Moose Lake. When emergency crews arrived, they found that the lone occupant of the vehicle, a 59-year-old man from St. Paul, was deceased.

"After preliminary investigation, it is believed the deceased suffered a major health event, resulting in a slow speed collision," according to RCMP, in a media update sent out on Monday.

Alberta RCMP offer their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
