RCMP Report 2

Bonnyville RCMP were called to an apartment building on 42 St. about a male with multiple stab wounds "bleeding badly."

On Sept. 7, officers attended the scene of an argument taken too far, and through investigation, arrested and charged 27-year-old Alexander Hewitt with aggravated assault.

According to Hillier, the victim and accused didn't know each other prior to the incident.

“The suspect was in the apartment building visiting someone else, and through some interaction, a fight broke out,” she detailed.

The victim was treated in the hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries, which came as a surprise to police "considering the scene and the amount of blood."

Hillier said the suspect, who's a Bonnyville male, turned himself into RCMP at the scene  when he learned police were involved.

Hewitt is scheduled to appear in the Bonnyville courthouse Sept. 27.

Two young girls reported missing

Local police are hoping the public can help them locate two 12-year-old girls who were last seen at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Dedawn Badger (Watchmaker) and Gillian Night were reported missing on Thursday.

Police believe the two young girls are travelling as a pair.

"We suspect that they're together," Sgt. Kim Hillier stated. "They're friends, they have some history."

Hillier added, "We're still actively trying to find those two little girls."

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Badger (Watchmaker) or Night are asked to contact the RCMP detachment at 780-343-7200.

Citizen steps in to stop attempted theft

A citizen stepped in and stopped a young man from stealing his truck on 45 Ave. on Sept. 8.

It was just before 7 a.m. when the call came into RCMP that a citizen had interrupted a young male trying to steal his truck.

"When the owner confronted the male, the male ran off,” detailed Hillier. “We didn’t locate him after the fact, however, a forensic identification exam has been completed and will hopefully provide us with a suspect."

Purse with cash goes MIA

Just after 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 8, Bonnyville RCMP were called by a woman reporting the front passenger window of her vehicle had been smashed and a purse containing cash had been stolen.

The vehicle was parked on 37 St., and police are asking anyone who may have seen someone or something suspicious in the area between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to call the detachment.

Taken without permission

A rural resident is down a quad after two males broke onto his property and stole his off-highway vehicle (OHV).

On Sept. 10, at about 1:38 a.m., RCMP received a report from a man after two males in a black truck entered his yard and attempted to steal fuel before taking off with his 2006 red Suzuki quad.

At the time of the theft, Hillier said, the OHV had Alberta license plate YE463.
