The Town of Bonnyville held their regular council meeting on Tuesday, July 11.

The Bonnyville Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) passed second and third reading following a public hearing. Last Tuesday (July 4), the Town and MD of Bonnyville hosted a public hearing during a joint council meeting as part of the IDP process.

Revving engines and tough competition were a common occurrence at the Buster Ingram Memorial Raceway. From July 8 to 9, 150 riders of all skill levels took part in round three of the Alberta Dirt Rider Association (ADRA) Provincial Race Series.

Things at Muriel Lake are looking up. That was the consensus shared at the Muriel Lake Basin Management Society (MLBMS) annual general meeting on Sunday, July 9.

As a man with over a decade serving the MD of Bonnyville, Reeve Ed Rondeau is ready to step down. After a total of 22 years in municipal politics and three years as a school board trustee, Rondeau is ready to retire.

Twenty-one castaways from across the Lakeland will push themselves to the limit to raise money for KidSport Bonnyville and the chance to walk away with $5,000.

Five Lakeland Olympic athletes are headed to the big leagues. From July 7 to 9, five local athletes will be taking part in the Special Olympics Provincial Games. The games are biennial and alternate between spring/summer and winter competitions.

The MD of Bonnyville will be keeping a close eye on Moose Lake. Water levels are higher than average this year, resulting in damage to homes, properties, and infrastructure on the lakeshore.

Telus gave local residents a glimpse into the future with the presentation of their fully connected home. Bonnyville remains one of the only towns in the northeast region with fibre optic internet access.

With construction coming to a head, excitement around Walsh Field is starting to build. Despite poor weather conditions throughout the spring, the field is well on it's way to be ready for turf installation.
