COLD LAKE – Cold Lake City Council approved a request to reallocate a previously approved $3,500 sponsorship grant from a platinum sponsorship to a combination of one Gold Sponsorship and one Lunch Sponsor package for the upcoming RCMP Charity Golf Tournament at its June 24 regular meeting.
The decision came after Shauna Rehbein, on behalf of the High Brown Club operating for the RCMP charity, requested the change due to the unavailability of the original sponsorship tier.
“As you may recall, on May 27, council approved a $3,500 sponsorship grant following the recommendation from the Community Advisory Committee. The funding was designated as a platinum sponsorship package in support of the RCMP charity golf tournament scheduled for July 18 at the Cold Lake Golf and Winter Club,” said Paul McWilliams, the City's General Manager of Community Services.
McWilliams explained that the reallocation request was made because the platinum sponsorship had already been claimed by another sponsor.
He explained that “as a result, the High Brown Club is proposing to instead allocate the $3,500 towards a combination of one gold sponsorship and one lunch sponsorship,” adding that this change “would maintain the original funding amount and continue to support the same charitable event.”
McWilliams also added that “the gold sponsorship includes a team, a golf team, and additional promotional benefits, ensuring that the City of Cold Lake receives meaningful recognition and community engagement value.”
McWilliams said the reallocation has no budget impact and still supports the original purpose of funding a major community charity event.
Council voted in favor of the recommended action. The RCMP Charity Golf Tournament will be held July 18 at the Cold Lake Golf and Winter Club.
