COLD LAKE – Across the Lakeland, there are several women who have made impacts on local economies through their involvement in various industries.

Cold Lake’s Angela Cook is a Coldwell Banker Realtor with over a decade of experience. She exemplifies the resilience, determination, and passion that women bring to their careers.

Cook’s journey in real estate began as a quest for personal growth and fulfillment.

“My journey was based on raising the kids,” she reflects. “All my kids are out working now, and they're very independent. So, I needed something to still be setting good examples and motivation to show them life skills outside of the house.”

Working in real estate is not just a job for Cook, it is a calling driven by passion.

“Finding something that you love to do is essential,” she emphasizes. “For me, my passion lies in being well-versed in all aspects of real estate. It's about providing a seamless service to clients of all ages and backgrounds.”

With her extensive experience primarily in Cold Lake, she has worked across the Lakeland area, navigating the diverse landscape of real estate, from acreage lifestyles to city dwellings.

“Every situation is different, every property is different,” she explains. “That's what keeps it exciting and challenging.”

Cook’s approach to her work is also rooted in empathy and a genuine desire to help people.

“I love helping people. I love to know people's stories and visit with them,” she shares. “It's not just a job, it's about bringing some sunshine into everyone's life.”

Community over competition

In an industry often perceived as competitive, Cook believes in fostering a supportive environment, especially for other women entering the field.

“I'd rather help them succeed than watch them be frustrated,” she says. “It's tough, but you want to inspire them to be the best person and make a difference."

Reflecting on the importance of women working in real estate, Cook highlights the unique perspectives they bring to the job.

“In a group, women can bring something special... They can see things differently, which is crucial in this profession.”

Cook's commitment to empowering women extends beyond her career to her family.

“I always taught my daughter to reach for the stars and let her light shine," she says proudly. “Anything a guy can do, a girl can do better. There's no barrier for that.”

On this year’s International Women's Day, Cook shares an empowering quote she once heard: “Here's to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.”
