COLD LAKE – Cold Lake Police Dog services has successfully tracked a woman who fled from a stolen vehicle on Dec. 20.

The Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) with the assistance of Cold Lake RCMP and Elk Point RCMP located a stolen vehicle driving westbound on Highway 55 in Cold Lake. RCMP did not attempt to conduct a traffic stop at the time due to public safety, according to a media release.

RCMP were able to safely set up containment and deployed a tire deflation device successfully stopping the vehicle. The driver left the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area at which time the Cold Lake Police Dog services (PDS) was deployed. PDS tracked and apprehended the driver of the stolen vehicle.

Angel Blackman, 32, of Cold Lake, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous driving, resist/obstruct a peace officer and flight from police.

Blackman was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded in custody with her next court date set for Jan. 10 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.
