COLD LAKE - A shelter in place that was put in place on Tuesday night in a Cold Lake neighbourhood ended less than two hours later and resulted in a suspect being arrested.

"Cold Lake RCMP would like to advise the public that the situation has been resolved. A suspect was arrested and no injuries have been reported at this time," reads a statement released just after 10:30 p.m. on July 8.

Officers were expected to remain on scene for several hours while they continued to investigate.

Cold Lake RCMP initially released a statement at about 9 p.m., stating they were responding to reports of a gun shot in the area of 8th Street and 10th Avenue in Cold Lake.

"Anyone in that area is asked to shelter in place while police respond and deal with the incident. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and to please not post any pictures of the police event until after the incident is over," reads the initial release from RCMP.

Another update is anticipated from RCMP once more information becomes available.
