RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating Brooke Balciunas, a 14-year-old youth from Cold Lake, who was reported missing to police on June 7.

'Council recognizes this is a large sum of money to commit to a facility that is being built in another municipality, but we feel it will be a great benefit to our residents and will help drive the music and performing arts scene all across the Lakeland,’ says Cold Lake mayor.

The Cold Lake Energy Centre and its grounds will host a large-scale Treaty 6 Contemporary Arts Festival on June 11. The full day event will be feature 100 per cent Indigenous lineup from drag queens, country singers, burlesque dancers, along with established and emerging visual artists.

This evening, the emergency department at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre will be temporarily closed from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Special Olympics athletes from the Lakeland wrapped up their bowling season on May 19 with a party and awards at the Marina Bowling Centre. Organizers prepare for spring and summer programming.

On June 4, a rumble will be heard through the Lakeland as motorcycle riders gather to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and disease prevention. The scenic ride will start and finish in Cold Lake with stops planned for Glendon, St. Paul, Derwent and Bonnyville.

In celebration of Catholic Education Week running from May 23-27, Lakeland Catholic students will be encouraged to wear blue, while Lakeland Catholic staff members will don t-shirts designed by students Jeanna Ignacio and Paige Parker.

Overnight emergency department closures have been announced for the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre once again.

The Cold Lake hospital will experience another emergency department disruption over night Monday and Tuesday this week.
