Elk Point & District Ukrainian Dance Club returns with first show after four-year hiatus

The Elk Point and District Ukrainian Dance Club hosted its first annual spring concert after a four-year hiatus on May 7 at the Elk Point Allied Arts Centre.

ELK POINT – The Elk Point and District Ukrainian Dance Club hosted its first annual spring concert after a four-year hiatus on May 7 at the Elk Point Allied Arts Centre.

The show was a celebration of Ukrainian culture and heritage through music, said Tammy Klatt, president of the club, but also an opportunity to showcase the skills and talents of the 24 dancers at the club.

Each dance at the show originates from different regions of Ukraine, which were narrated and explained by Denise Bjorkman to the audience prior to the performances.

Klatt thanked all who attended the show and all those who made it possible to bring the club back. "We were shut down with COVID," she said, but it was through community effort that the club is back. "It takes a community to get this club going and thriving again."
