Summer Reading Program kids visit Klatt Ranch near Elk Point

Participants got to feed a potbelly pig, visit with sheep and snuggle some kittens out at Klatt Ranch.

ELK POINT - Summer Reading Program participants from the Laverne Wilson Public Library visited the Klatt Ranch southwest of Elk Point on Thursday, where Shyanne Klatt introduced them to a handsome Highland steer.

The readers also visited with the potbelly pig, fed grass to the elegant alpaca and his sheep friends, saw the Klatts’ wide variety of poultry ranging from turkeys and bantam hens to guinea fowl, petted the horses and even met a pair of tiny kittens during their tour, with some participants remembering earlier visits to the ranch when they were in playschool.
