ELK POINT - At the April 2 Elk Point Elks Lodge #460 meeting, the organization was asked to donate to a project of the Elk Point Long Term Care facility. Seeing as how much it could help the residents and staff, it didn’t take members long to agree to a $1,000 donation.

A quote received for the equipment was near the $9,500 mark.

As per the letter from Brenda-Anne Haire Killam, they were in dire need of “an ice and water dispenser which would be very beneficial to our staff and residents in Long Term Care as residents and staff would have regular access to cool water and ice, which contributes to essential fluid intake. The current machine is no longer functioning and we have been without the ice/water dispenser for several months.”

Elks Lodge member Katelynn Caron presented the cheque to Terri Wood, the Recreation Therapy Assistant for Long Term Care and Brenda-Anne Haire Killam, the Integrated Site manager for the Elk Point Healthcare Center. And in front, sat a wonderful resident, Leonard, who had a great smile on his face, anticipating the taste of ice-cold water which hopefully is on the way soon.

Anyone else in the community who wishes to donate to this project, would be welcomed with open arms.
