Plane crash near Vermilion claims lives of pilot and passenger

VERMILION - A plan crash north of Vermilion claimed the lives of two people on June 21.

At about 12:24 p.m., Vermilion RCMP was dispatched to a call regarding a plane crash.

"Upon arrival, the plane was located approximately 1.2 km short of the local airport runway," reads information from RCMP.

"There were two occupants in the plane. The 46-year-old female pilot, a resident of Slave Lake . . . and a 76-year-old male passenger, a resident of Mannville . . . did not survive the crash," according to RCMP.

This incident is now being investigated by Transportation Safety Board.

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of both deceased.
