Two area men charged with attempted murder received new court dates on February 9, after both were briefly in Lac La Biche Provincial court via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre.

William Ingram, 24, will be in St. Paul Provincial Court on February 26 for a bail hearing. He did not enter any pleas, as prosecutors continue to receive new information regarding the ongoing police investigation.

Markien Kuznetsov, 20, had his matter adjourned to March 2 for a show cause hearing and entrance of his plea. Kuznetsov does not yet have a lawyer to represent him, and wishes to apply for bail.

Both men are charged with attempted murder in relation to a shooting incident that took place on the night of January 30.

No new details about the incident have been released. The POST will continue to update this story as details emerge.

February 2 update.

William Ingram, 24, and Markien Kuznetsov, 20, made brief appearances in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Monday. Both area men are charged with several offences, including attempted murder, after a man was shot just west of Lac La Biche in the early morning hours of Friday, January 30. Their matters were adjourned until February 9 so the men could seek legal advice. Both will be in custody until that date.

Ingram is charged with attempted murder using a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless use of a firearm. Kuznetsov is also charged with attempted murder using a firearm.

Few details were divulged in court, but in a brief description of Friday’ s events, crown attorney Randy Brant said Kuznetsov and Ingram were in one vehicle, and the victim, another man, was in a second vehicle - the vehicles were parked beside each other at the time. Brant said a shotgun was fired, and the projectiles struck the victim in the ear area. The police investigation is still ongoing.

The injured man was supposed to be in Lac La Biche court himself on Monday for unrelated matters, but was unable to attend due to his injuries.

The POST will update this story as details emerge.
