Autopsy results expected on body found by Wood Buffalo RCMP

Autopsy on found body held this week

RCMP in Wood Buffalo have not yet provided an update on remains of a body found in a wooded area of the city last Saturday. An autopsy on the remains had been set for Wednesday, March 24.

RCMP in Fort McMurray discovered the body in a wooded area near a residential subdivision near Silin Forest Road and Thickett Drive on the afternoon of March 20 after receiving a complaint call.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigation Section, Wood Buffalo RCMP along with RCMP Forensic Identification Services are continuing the  investigation.

The autopsy was scheduled for March 24 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.

RCMP say the identity is unknown at this time, as the investigation is in the preliminary stages.

Police have advised that an update will be provided once new information becomes available.

Fort McMurray is approximately 300 kilometres north of Lac La Biche.
