Boyle RCMP Hand Out Cop Cards for Kids

Boyle RCMP challenge kids to collect police cards for a chance to win a prize

Calling all youth aged 12 and under! The Boyle RCMP have Cop Cards for kids to collect for a chance to win a great prize.
Boyle RCMP have handed out Cop Cards in previous years with great success. Last year’ s program saw Officers handing out around 1,000 cards in the community. This year Officers will once again be attending schools and community events to get the cards out.

“Last year it was a hit with the kids” says Sgt. Kevin McGILLIVRAY. “We had kids clamouring for cop cards everywhere we went, you couldn’ t get two steps in to a school without getting swamped with kids approaching us, it was great to see.”
This year there are 15 Cop Cards to collect featuring local General Duty and Traffic Members as well as Office Staff. Youth are able to collect the cards by approaching their friendly neighbourhood Mountie out in the community or attending the Boyle RCMP or Boyle ITU offices.

Cst. Dan WEGNER of the Boyle RCMP was able to launch this year’ s initiative with the support of our partnered community agencies. The Boyle Lions Club, Boyle and District Rural Crime Watch, Athabasca Regional Victim Services and the Boyle D.A.R.E. program all contributed in order to make this year’ s program possible.
“This is a great program to build rapport with local area youth” says Cst. Dan WEGNER. “I’ m excited to get out in the schools and community events and interactive with the kids.”
Once youth have collected all 15 cards they can attend the Boyle RCMP office to have their name entered in a draw. The grand prize winner will take home a new bike courtesy of our gracious sponsors. The contest closes July 31st, 2014 at which time the draw will take place the following week and winners contacted.
