UPDATE: RCMP 'Shelter in Place' caution is for KIKINO area

Police say Highway 36 to Highway 28 motorists should not stop for hitch-hikers as event unfolds

Lac La Biche RCMP have clarified that a general "Shelter in Place" statement that was issued less than half an hour ago is for the Kikino area.

Residents in and around the Kikino Metis Settlement to as far south as Highway 28 are urged to shelter in place and not open home or business doors to anyone.

Police say the advisory is in place as they search for a person considered armed and dangerous.

Lac La Biche RCMP are currently involved in a police operation and are advising residents to shelter in place. Stay in your homes, lock your doors, and do not open your door for anyone.

Police are searching for a male who is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone driving on Highway 36, between Lac La Biche and Highway 28, are advised to NOT STOP for any pedestrians or hitch hikers.  

An update will be sent as soon as more information becomes available.

The Lac La Biche POST newsroom is currenlty trying to determine the specific location of the advisory.
