Canadian survey shows Lac La Biche POST newspaper readership continues to hold strong for local readers

This new research study, funded by Canadian Heritage, explores engagement with printed community newspapers in Canada

The study found the printed community newspaper is by far the favourite source of local news and information in communities large and small across Canada. Time spent with a community newspaper is virtually unchanged compared to two years ago and not surprisingly, the predominant reason for reading printed community newspapers is local information, including news, editorial, sports, entertainment and events.

If you've got an event you want advertised or covered by our newsroom, give us a call. The Lac La Biche POST has been covering community news and events since 1967. .... Next year we turn 50.

We are very proud to be the Number One source for news and information in the area according to the latest and past Lac La Biche County resident surveys. We are award-winning, community-supporting and locally-operated.

We are a busy newspaper with a big responsibility, and we love doing it. But we're not just about words on the printed page, we've got an incredible digital audience who give us instant comments on instant, as-it-happens news coverage. We have one of the best facebook conversations on local topics in the region. In fact, without boosting any posts or BUYING LIKES, we have amassed a facebook following of almost 6,000 people. Our Insights Page on facebook shows that more than 5200 of those Likes are from people in Canada. that's a lot of local eyeballs learning about Lac La Biche and area.

As the study shows, even though we can sometimes feel like the old dinosaur, local readers like their local paper. And in a world where technology changes in an instant and news is a global commodity, that's a great thing.
We take pride in being able to inform our readers and our communities. We thank all of our readers for taking an interest in their community.
