Celebrating nine years of Bold excitement

To mark its ninth anniversary, staff at the Bold Center in Lac La Biche welcomed residents at the Bold Free Day on Saturday. With modest attendance, the 200,000 square foot facility hosted free use of the fitness centre, fieldhouses, walking track and skating rinks through the day. Residents  were also able to swim at Portage Pool free of charge, and in Plamondon, residents were also treated to free admission for public skating at the Plamondon arena.

Free admission at all facilities was available in exchange for food bank donations.

One of the popular spots through the afternoon event was in the Bold Center fieldhouse where facility staff helped youngsters bounce and roll around the floor in bubble balls.

The Bold Center first opened in January of 2011, following a community plebiscite that approved the construction of the $57 million building. More than three-quarters of the cost was covered by annual provincial grant funding from the Municipal Sustainability Inititative (MSI) grant funding.
