Charges have been laid in a 2014 fatal collision on Highway 63. On October 28, 2014 at Mariana Lake, a northbound bus transporting tradespeople to a Fort McMurray area work site collided with a southbound passenger jeep. The two occupants of the jeep died as a result of the collision and a number of the bus occupants suffered serious injuries.
After a lengthy investigation and in consultation with Provincial Crown the driver of the bus has been charged with 18 criminal offences including dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Kaliappan Subramaniam of Fort McMurray is set to appear in Boyle Provincial Court on April 28, 2015.
