LAC LA BICHE – Disc golf enthusiasts will be able to bring their a-game to Lac La Biche on Sept. 6 to compete in a one-day tournament.
According to Michael Pruden, director of the Lac La Biche Disc Golf Club, the one-day inclusive event is called ‘Lac-La Disc: Fun For All.’
The competition will play out on the disc golf courses at Alexander Hamilton Park, as well as at Aurora Middle School, starting at 9:30 a.m.
“Hosted by the Lac La Biche Disc Golf League, it's open to all, beginner friendly, with divisions for rec, competitive, women and juniors,” Pruden said.
The tournament will consist of three, nine-hole rounds. Two of the rounds will take place in the morning, with one at each location. The third and final nine-hole round will take place at Alexander Hamilton Park.
“We are wanting to get both parks used this time to get one round in a park style course instead of just the wooded style course that Alexander Hamilton provides.”
According to Pruden, the winners of the tournament will be those who score the lowest combined score over the three rounds.
“We will be having trophies for the divisions,” he stated.
Last year, 19 players competed in a similar event.
“Locals and visitors enjoyed the course, and event was deemed a success,” Pruden said.
League participation in the sport of disc golf is growing in the Lac La Biche area, with summer meet-ups at both the Alexander Hamilton Park course and the middle school showing increased turnout.
“Locals enjoy accessible, beginner, friendly play with community support,” he said.
