Four arrested in Lac La Biche after shots fired at vehicle

Multiple charges laid after midnight shooting on residential street

LAC LA BICHE - A man who allegedly fired two rounds from a gun toward a vehicle stopped at a Lac La Biche intersection is among four people now facing criminal charges.

Lac La Biche RCMP are saying that just after midnight on Sunday, Feb. 7, a  man and woman driving through the Lac La Biche hamlet were fired upon as their vehicle approached a stop sign on 102 Avenue and 103 Street.

"A male and female reported they were at a stop sign . . . when a male suspect exited another vehicle and fired two rounds towards their vehicle,"  said RCMP spokesperson Cst. Chantelle Kelly, after releasing the information on Feb. 12.

Neither occupant reported and physical injuries. Police are saying that the alleged victims and suspects were known to each other.

"At this point, there isn't a reason to belive it is a random event," said Kelly.

Police were called to the scene —  along a busy road in the community that runs through the downtown, into a school zone and through high density residential areas —  and located a suspect vehicle with three occupants inside. The occupants were arrested without incident.

A search of the vehicle found a shotgun and ammunition, say police. A fourth suspect was arrested a short time later after a warrant was used to enter an area home.
