Fishing is free for all Albertans and visitors this weekend from Saturday, Feb. 18 to Monday, Feb. 20. While Alberta sportfishing regulations still apply regardless of age and residence, the weekend is intended as an opportunity for people to try fishing without having to buy a fishing license.
Family fishing weekends are held twice a year, the Family Day long weekend and again on the weekend of July 8 and 9.
