This past week, 85 young hockey players from the Lakeland region and around Alberta attended the Bellz Edge Elite Hockey Camp in Lac La Biche.
The camp, which took place at the Bold Center, was taught by Gordon Bell, formerly of Westlock, Alberta, whose career has included playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, as well as with the Oklahoma City Blazers and Tulsa Oil Kings in the Central Hockey League.
Throughout the week, Bell and his training team put the kids through their paces, instructing them in a variety of ways to improve their overall game including shooting, tipping, and passing drills, breakaways. There was also plenty of conditioning and scrimmaging to prepare the young players for when they faced off against each other on Friday for a shot at winning the Bellz Edge Cup.
