KIKINO - A man from Kikino is $300,000 richer after a lotto win earlier this month.
On May 16, four Alberta winners took their shot at winning big in a Lotto Spot Live event held in St. Albert, according to information from Western Canada Lottery Corporation and Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).
"For the first time ever, in a surprising turn of events, every single winner took home a $300,000 prize," reads the information.
Alvin Howse, Trevor Thomas, Patricia Burgsma, and Dave Bruce each took a turn at AGLC headquarters.
Howse, who is from Kikino, said he was thrilled to discover the PLINKO ticket he bought from Squirrely’s Gas Bar at 10303 101 Avenue, Lac La Biche on Dec. 19 won $10,000 and a date with the life-size PLINKO board.
“I was excited,” said Howse. “The cashier said I won, and I said, ‘Oh, my God, thank you!’”
He added, “I originally won on my late son’s birthday, so I’m thinking of him.”
Howse plans to put some money in the bank and "take the kids shopping."
“This money is just - wow!” he said, after his $300,000 win. “I made a two-and-a-half-hour drive to be here and it’s just sinking in now.”
According to information provided, PLINKO is an instant ticket first offered in April 2023. It’s based on the popular game from the TV show The Price is Right. PLINKO instant tickets are available at Lotto Spot retailers throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
Prizes on the ticket range from $5 instant wins to a $500,0000 top prize from a chip drop.
"The overall odds of winning any PLINKO instant ticket prize are 1 in 4.51," according to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.
