Trudeau and Kyle Harrietha, who is running to replace former MP Brian Jean in the upcoming Fort McMurray-Athabasca by-election, will have an event at the Canadian Native Friendship Centre Friday at 4:30.

"We'll be meeting with various community members in Lac La Biche (and) we'll be doing a meet-and-greet," said Harrietha.

Trudeau will go to Macleod, Alta., which is also preparing for a by-election, on Thursday before coming to Lac La Biche Friday afternoon, going to Wabasca Friday evening and Fort McMurray on Saturday.

Harrietha said he was excited to come to Lac La Biche with Trudeau.

"It's am important, fast-growing community in the riding," Harrietha said. "Any time that the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada comes out it's great."

The other candidates in the by-election are the Conservative Party's David Yurdiga, the NDP's Lori McDaniel and the Libertarian Party's Tim Moen. No date has been announced for the by-election, which must he held by the end of July.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article said Trudeau would be in Fort McMurray on Sunday. In fact, he will be there Saturday. This article has been corrected to reflect that fact.
