LLB man arrested for retail store theft

Police continue to investigate if back-to-back calls are related

LAC LA BICHE - A hearing awaits the suspected thief of audio equipment stolen recently from a downtown Lac La Biche retailer.

RCMP say they have charged a Lac La Biche man with break and enter and mischief under $5,000 in connection to one of two break-ins that took place within days of each other at the Lac La Biche Stationers business on Main Street.

In a statement released on March 18, police say they were called to the store the first time on Sunday, Feb. 21 at just after five that morning responding to alarm calls.  Police responded to a second alarm call two days later, during the early morning of Tuesday, Feb. 23.

The initial investigation resulted in the suspect being arrested and charged in connection to the first break-in complaint. RCMP say they are still investigating the second occurrence and whether it is related to the earlier one.

Beatah Devine, 30, has been released from custody following an interim judicial hearing and is scheduled to be in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on April 12 to face the charges.
