Co-op management continues in a Co-op tradition — Investing locally in Northeastern Alberta. The folks at Plamondon Co-op are now offering more to the region.

The Plamondon retailer that has been in the Lac La Biche County for three decades has recently moved and expanded their Home, Energy & Agro Centre to a newer, bigger and better location that opened its doors to the community on Monday, July 22.

The move was made possible after Co-op’s recent acquisition of a commercial property — formerly the Bold Manufacturing site — located half a mile north of the hamlet of Plamondon.

The property provides Plamondon Co-op with over 53,000 square feet of commercial, retail and office space. This has helped the retailer to not only expand their existing product line, but has assisted them in the addition of some new categories as well, especially in the agriculture, building and rental segments.

“It was very important for us to evolve to serve our Co-op Members, Guests and our local communities, which are also changing,” noted Plamondon Co-op’s General Manager Richard Lemay. “When opportunities like this come along to expand our lines of farm and ranch supplies, agricultural products, building products including lumber and plywood, plus the addition of a line of rental equipment, we have to take them.”

With the expansion, the one-stop-shop is a must-visit destination for local and regional shoppers, as Plamondon Co-op can now accommodate even more strong and reliable local and international brands in the market, in an organized and cluster-free manner. The expansion has also helped in Co-op’s Petroleum Division to have a home base in Plamondon.

“Our Petroleum Division is excited to have a home base. There will be shop space for the trucks and office space for our supervisors and drivers. We will have room to display our offering of tanks and lubricants,” said Curtis Small, the Energy, Hardware & Agro Manager. “Our Team is excited and ready for future growth and expansion.”

The expansion of agricultural products includes fence posts and rails, poly tanks, fence panels and gates, and creep feeders.

New products now offered include lumber, plywood, pressure-treated lumber and plywood, crop supplies, silage bags and sbale wraps, calf and tack shelters.

The Home, Energy & Agro Centre also offers a line of rental equipment including small commercial and agriculture equipment that includes skid steers, mini excavators, hydraulic dump trailers, flat deck trailers, compact tractors with attachments, compact track loaders, grain vacs, rotary mowers, and more daily additions.
