Plamondon Legends music showcase spotlights local country clones

Shania, Willy, Dolly and Waylon among characters included in Legends event

PLAMONDON - A roster of more than 20 local singers and performers took on the personas of several famous country music and rock icons on June 17 at the Plamondon Festival Center.

The Legends Show, part of the annual Plamondon Music Festival, was a toe-tapping, rocking good time as a large crowd gathered to hear the classic songs made famous by such icons as Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, the Carpenters, Anne Murray, and even Elvis who didn't leave the building until he had graced the audience with his presence. Early in the show, local singer and guitarist Sam Elliott took to the stage masquerading as the one and only country legend Merle Haggard, entertaining the audience with Haggard’s timeless song, ‘Big City.’

Tracy Lord’s cover of the legendary Canadian country star Shania Twain also hit all the right notes, delighting the large crowd that had gathered at the Plamondon Festival Center for the Legends Show. Lord's wardrobe was Twain-worthy too.

Anne Murray is one of the most prolific legends in the history of Canadian country, and on Saturday, Michele Gauthier played tribute to the Canadian crooner, beginning her set with the classic ‘Snowbird.’
