Police nab two connected to Buffalo Lake shooting

Two men facing attempted murder charges

BOYLE - Police say that evidence gathered at the scene of a Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement shooting that sent one man to hospital has lead them to the eventual arrest of two men, one from the area and one from Edmonton.

Guy Edward Delorme, 30, from the Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement and Brendan Christopher Dion, 30, of Edmonton are both facing numerous charges including attempted murder, after Boyle RCMP responded to a Sept. 7 call that a man had been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in a house on the settlement.

Police were able to locate the residence, as “significant damages were apparent,” according to a Sept. 21 media release announcing the arrests. Police later described the damages as broken windows with doors and walls showing indications that bullets or buckshot had been fired at them.

RCMP obtained a search warrant to enter the residence and seized firearms, ammunition and other forensic evidence that led to the Sept. 20 arrests of the two men.

Delorme is charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, disguise with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle. Dion has been charged with attempted murder, unauthorized possession, disguise with intent and breach of a release order.

Both men were remanded into custody to await their first appearances via CCTV in Boyle Provincial Court this week.

Boyle RCMP are still investigating the incident and do not believe the attack was random. Police could not provide an update on the condition of the shooting victim.
