A 14-year old Lac La Biche teen with court-ordered weapon restrictions will be appearing in Lac La Biche youth court after police say he appeared on a social media post with four firearms.
On November 10, Lac La Biche RCMP were notified of an Instagram post which showed a young male posing with four firearms. Officers identified the teen — and the court-ordered conditions he was under not to possess weapons.
Lac La Biche RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, then executed a search warrant at a Lac La Biche residence. As a result of the search, one firearm, eight imitation firearms, and a bear spray canister was seized.
A 14-year-old male, a resident of Lac La Biche, has been charged with possessing a weapon contrary to a court order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous use and unauthorized possession of a firearm, or prohibited weapon or restricted weapon.
The youth was held for a judicial interim release hearing where he was released by a Justice of the Peace from custody on conditions. He has a Dec. 19, court date.
