Graduation events took place at the Lac La Biche campus on June 5 and 6 and featured just over 1,000 graduates from a variety of Portage College programs.

LAKELAND – On June 5 and 6, just over 1,000 Portage College graduates celebrated their hard work with convocation ceremonies that were held inside the gymnasium at the college’s Lac La Biche campus.

Graduates represented the various programs taught at Portage College’s Lac La Biche, St. Paul, and Cold campuses, and ranged from Early Learning and Child Care, Aboriginal Arts, Community Social Work, Computer Programming and Information Technology, Office Administration, Culinary Arts, and Fine Arts.

A number of students who had been studying in trades programs at the college, including power engineering, heavy equipment operator, carpentry, and welding, also received their certificates and diplomas.

The convocation ceremonies, which took place over the course of two days, began with speeches by Portage College officials, including members of the college faculty. Each of the convocation ceremonies concluded with students going outside and participating in the traditional cap-toss.
