UPDATE - According to an update sent out a few hours after an initial media release was sent out by Lac La Biche RCMP regarding a possible kidnapping on Aug. 14, the concern proved to be a false alarm.

"Lac La Biche RCMP would like to inform the public that the driver of the vehicle, as well as the potential victim, have contacted the Detachment to inform them that there was no abduction. As per their report, the passenger was pretending to be abducted by the driver," reads the update from RCMP.

"Lac La Biche RCMP would like to thank the members of the public who called the incident in as RCMP had the information quickly and were able to respond and deploy the necessary resources in a timely manner, something that would have been crucial in an abduction case. Furthermore, RCMP reminds the public that these kind of practical jokes can cause panic in the public or even lower the chance of people calling the incident in, believing it is just another prank."

LAC LA BICHE - RCMP in Lac La Biche are investigating what could possibly be a kidnapping that took place on Aug. 14.
