RCMP continue to have a section of Highway 663 towards Holowachuk Estates blocked off. Police at the road block are equipped with tactical rifles, but RCMP officials say Holowachuk residents are currently in no danger as police have the situation “confined."

“There is no safety concern currently,” a police spokesperson told the POST at 9:15 — but didn’t release any details of what the situation involves. Residents say the police presence has been ongoing since around 8 pm.

Police are asking the public to steer clear of the area.

RCMP officials told the POST they will release a statement when they have some details.
