Slow vote count so far

No comments from candidates yet, as vote tallies come in slowly

An hour after the polls closed, only a handful of votes had been counted and recorded on the Elections Alberta website. Conversations with candidates had been delayed due to the slow vote tally.

An hour into the tally of votes, and only four had been officially recorded in the Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche constituency.

The Lac La Bcihe POST newsroom had planned to be hearing from candidates in concession or victory speeches by 9pm — but that has been delayed as vote counts trickle into the Elections Alberta real-time website.

As of 9:25 pm, 14 votes had been counted — all from the advance vote ballot boxes. Of the 14, incumbent UCP MLA Brian Jean had 9, NDP candidate Calan Hobbs had five. Independent candidate Kevin Johnston had none.  Across the province at the same time, Elections Alberta was reporting that 24 per cent of all ballots had been counted.
