UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm warning, which was issued by Environment Canada for Lac La Biche County and the surrounding area, has now been lifted.

Although the notice issued on the afternoon of July 9 warned of possible severe thunderstorms, strong winds and large hail, severe weather conditions were not encountered in the Lac La Biche County area.

The warning was issued due to a a low pressure system in northern Alberta mixing with warm and unstable air. It said there was a possibility of wind gusts up to 100 km/h and hail up to the size of a loony.

The potentially unstable weather system has now passed over the border into Saskatchewan.

The warning was also issued for much St. Paul County and the M.D. of Bonnyville, as well as northern Smoky Lake County. It has now been lifted in these areas as well.
