Tuesday morning collision claims Plamondon man, charges laid

One Plamondon man is dead, another facing charges after SUVs collide

A 54-year-old Plamondon man is dead following a two-vehicle collision near Plamondon Aug. 4, while the driver of the second vehicle is facing charges.

Lac La Biche RCMP and emergency crews were called to the scene of a head-on collision on Birch Grove Road, north of Plamondon just before 4:30 Tuesday morning. At the scene, police say two SUVs had collided, resulting in the death of one of the drivers. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, report RCMP in an Aug. 5 press release.

Ignaty Scherbakov, 48, of Plamondon, was released after a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court Aug. 31.
