Wanted man in custody after police use dog to find vehicle thief suspect

Juston Boucher arrested after Athabsaca RCMP investigate stolen vehicle complaint in Calling Lake.

Area RCMP are reporting that a Lac La Biche man who was said to be armed and dangerous has been arrested.

Juston Boucher was arrested by Athabasca RCMP early Thursday morning after they responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the Calling Lake area.  Athabasca RCMP tell the Lac La Biche POST that the driver of a vehicle believed to be stolen ran from police after a short pursuit in the community northwest of Athabsca. Police Dog Services were used to locate the man a short time later.

Athabasca police say Boucher was arrested without incident and has been remanded until his court appearance in St. Albert Provincial Court on Feb.3.

Boucher was wanted by RCMP for a string of charges issued by Lac La Biche RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm and discharge of a firearm. At the time, Lac La Biche RCMP issued a statement saying Boucher was considered armed and dangerous.

Athabasca RCMP did not lay further weapons charges against Boucher, but he now faces additional charges of Flight from Police, possession of stolen property more than $5,000, and operating a motor vehcile while prohibited.

RCMP are planning to issue a province-wide press release about the arrest later today.
