Ward 7 incumbent reelected

As the numbers are coming in, Ward 7 councillor John Nowak is likely to have a seat on council with more than twice the votes of his second-closest opponent.

As the numbers are coming in, Ward 7 councillor John Nowak is likely to have a seat on council with more than twice the votes of his second-closest opponent.

Sitting at 494 votes to Hajar "Jerry" Haymour's 266 and James "Big Jim" Young's 198, Nowak could be one of the returning councillors. Regardless of the outcome, he says he is grateful of the support he has received from the community.

"I've only tried to be honest, truthful and consistent. said Nowak, adding that he has learned he earned votes from constituents who may not have agreed with him but respected his work on council."In the last three years on council I've done everything I've said I would do. I've been working hard for the people and managing to keep my integrity."

Nowak is excited about the change that is coming to Lac La Biche and it's big city neighbour Edmonton where residents have elected Don Iveson to be their mayor. He says he is hoping that Lac La Biche County Council meet with Edmonton City Council so that not only they think twice about making decisions that affect our region, but that they also see Lac La Biche as a partner on issues such as infrastructure .
