Annual Hylo Harvest Days festivities took place over the past weekend.

The Lac La Biche RCMP detachment, and County peace officers and fire services are taking part in the second annual Fill the Pack Challenge. The departments are aiming to garner community donations to fill 80 backpacks with school supplies for students this fall, prior to Aug. 28.

The COVID-19 pandemic gave many employees a taste of what working remotely is like, and despite many people now returning to the office, there remain requests for staff to work from home, including those employed with Lac La Biche County.  

A handful of Indigenous-themed events in Lac La Biche this month are aiming to create authentic educational learning opportunities for visitors.

This winter, the Lac La Biche region is going to be front and centre on televisions and streaming services across Canada as the community is featured on a CBC television series.

The first Open Farm Days celebration in Plamondon not only brought together the area’s farming community for a locally produced dinner but included some fun too. Over 190 people gathered on Aug. 12 at the Plamondon Festival Centre to celebrate.

A blue-green algae advisory has been put into effect for Elinor Lake, located roughly 40 km southeast of Lac La Biche, as of Monday afternoon.

It was a busy month for the Lac La Biche RCMP detachment in July, patrolling and responding to calls in the community. A total of 602 calls ranging from property damage, traffic concerns, theft and disorderly conduct were received.

An initiative to clean up the streets and promote livable conditions in Lac La Biche County is once again getting a push from enforcement services. This time, at an occupied unsafe apartment complex.
