A 22-year-old man was arrested in the early morning hours of March 17, after he allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint in the Young's Beach area earlier that night. The local man will be in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on March 30, facing numerous weapons-related charges.

RCMP are warning the community to steer clear of frozen lakes, as thin and rotting ice poses dangers.

A woman from the Lac La Biche area pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud over $5,000 in St. Paul Provincial Court last week. Karen Young, 55, has been sentenced to 18 months on a suspended sentence.

It was a fitting end to a marathon Progressive Conservative nomination campaign in Lac La Biche-St. Paul-Two Hills, as the vote counting process lasted three rounds, stretching through the night and into the next morning. Over 1,800 votes were cast.

Darrell Younghans, a longtime school board executive and local Progressive Conservative organizer, has been nominated as the next PC candidate for the Lac La Biche–St. Paul–Two Hills constituency.

At approximately 1:45 pm on Friday, RCMP responded to a complaint about a potentially dangerous situation in Plamondon, which resulted in a large police presence in the area.

Today's hours-long power outage affecting much of Lac La Biche County was caused by an errant raven landing in the wrong place at a local electrical substation. Rolling blackouts will continue throughout the region until mid-afternoon March 10, when initial repair work is expected to be completed.

Two Lac La Biche men have been charged with assault, various weapons charges, and theft of a motor vehicle in connection with an alleged robbery and stabbing in the Beaver Lake area.
