Noises explained by old-time celebration

A steady series of booms and blasts heard in and around the hamlet of Lac La Biche today have been traced back to an area woman.

Using tracking systems from the the local air force base, triangulated data from wind and noise measurements at three municipal airports, CCTV footage of vehicle traffic in the area ... and one birth certificate from 1980, authorities have determined the noises were the result of signs on the tailgate Renee Nowicki's Ford F-150.

Encouraging community members to "honk" to celebrate the local woman's 40th birthday, the signs were a catalyst in today's emergency response.

Sources say the difficult day for Renee — turning 40, and being closer to "freedom 55" than "carefree 23" — was an equally challenging one for first responders. But it was still much, much worse for Renee.

"I mean, well, you know — 40. Wow. 40?  That's a tough one. Do you know that she's officially as old as the Rubik's Cube? ... and Post-It Notes were invented that year too. She's old — like as old as my mom," said a 20 year old emergency official, one of almost 35 per cent of the world's current population under the age of 40.

Today's excessive noise events caused significant disturbances in the community and have local officials considering a restriction on celebrations for people "in their 40s". Calling it Renee's Law, the local emergency officials said,  "old people — like 40 and over — don't like loud noises. So we won't let that happen again."

Happy Birthday Renee. From your Family.
