The Lac La Biche Lakers continued their winning streak on Jan. 24 and 25 with victories over the Northern Alberta Lightning and the High Prairie Red Wings.

Work took place on Jan. 28 at the intersection of 100 Street and 100 Avenue in the hamlet of Lac La Biche.

Emergency rooms in hospitals in Lac La Biche, Elk Point, Hinton, and Beaverlodge will be staffed by a virtual physician when an in-person doctor is not available, offered through a provincial initiative that began on Jan. 20.

On days when buses are cancelled, rural areas tend to have lower numbers of students in attendance than in other schools.

The long-running festival, which has been taking place annually since 2001, will feature sleigh rides, a chance to participate in curling, a free lunch, along with delicious homemade cinnamon buns made by a local church.

A photograph of a lynx taken by Donna Feledichuk will appear on the front cover of the March/April edition of Canadian Geographic.

The community event took place at the Bold Centre on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Organizer Ken Staples says while the weather is cold enough, more ice is needed ahead of the Lac La Biche Ice Festival.

A spokesperson with Lac La Biche County said plans are in place to replace the logo on the side of the Bold Centre building when the new pool is complete.

LAC LA BICHE – Administration will look in to the cost of clearing sidewalks on Main St in Lac La Biche and Plamondon after a unanimous motion by Lac La Biche County Council. The topic was initially raised by Ward 7 Coun.
